Is Meet5 free?
The Meet5 app is free. For private messages and extras like skipping waitlists, though, you need a membership: Meet5 Club from €4.99 a month, Meet5 Premium at €12.49 a month (as of August 2026, per meet5.de). On BuddyMe, chatting in every Loop is free.
What is Meet5 — and who it suits
Meet5 organizes group meetups of around five or more people: restaurant rounds, walks, regulars' tables, weekly meetups. Its core audience is 40+, and many members are 50 or older. If you are looking for regular group rounds and are willing to pay a membership for private messages, it is an established option.
Two things Meet5 deliberately does not offer: one-on-one meetups — the format is the group — and free private messages. BuddyMe has both.

A Loop can be a single coffee meetup or a group of up to eight. Meet5 only has the group format.
Chat without a subscription
You join a Loop and chat with the group for free. On Meet5, private messages require a membership from €4.99 per month (as of August 2026).
Verified profiles
A short selfie check confirms there is a real person behind a profile. Verified profiles show a tick.
Visibility on your terms
You decide who can contact you — everyone or only verified members, and as a woman also women only. Your exact location stays private: what shows is the city, at most an approximate distance.
A younger community
BuddyMe members are 32 years old on average, four out of five under 40. If you are specifically looking for peers 50+ in large group rounds, Meet5 offers the larger pool — on BuddyMe it is currently 4,000+ members aged 50 or older.
Rebuilt from scratch in 2026
BuddyMe was completely rebuilt in March 2026. There are apps for iOS and Android, and in the browser you can open Loops, join and chat too. Sign-up needs no password and takes less than three minutes; the servers are in the EU.
Built for less screen time
BuddyMe has no newsfeed and no forums. Loop chats archive themselves after the meetup. The app is meant to get you meeting people, not to keep you busy — live, don't just like.
